Neonatal hemochromatosis is a rare disease, with antenatal onset, often revealed by neonatal liver failure. We report the case of a 25-day-old girl admitted for hepatic failure. The diagnosis of hemochromatosis was strongly evoked on the basis of an important hyperferritinemia and a hypersaturation of transferrine. It was confirmed by post mortem liver biopsy showing a diffuse iron overload after perls staining. Management was based on the use of anti-oxidants and chelation therapy by Deforoxamine. However, the patient had a fast fatal outcome.Downloads
