Exceptional cause of heart failure in infants: anomalous origin of the left coronary artery

The anomalous origin of the coronary artery from the pulmonary artery is a rare congenital defect that occurs in 1/300000 live births. Its natural course is often fatal particularly during the first year of life. The clinical features in infants are not specific, and that makes the diagnosis difficult. It remains essential to evoke and recognize this condition in front of any dilated cardiomyopathy. We report a case of anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery in a 23 months old infant presenting an acute heart failure. The evolution was fatal.Downloads
