Premenstrual dysphoric disorder : An unusual cause of cyclic vomiting

Abstract

Cyclic vomiting in children poses a problem of etiological diagnosis and therapeutic management. We report the case of an adolescent girl who was hospitalised every month from the age of 14 years for refractory and disabling cyclic vomiting. The recrudescence from the age of menarche and the association with psychological disorders led to a premenstrual dysphoric disorder. The evolution was favourable under serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
