Objectives: Analyze the clinical characteristics of fetal ovarian cysts diagnosed in utero by prenatal ultrasound and the outcome of postnatal management. Methods: Retrospective study of 7 fetal ovarian cysts diagnosed in utero by prenatal ultrasound in 7 fetuses with clinical and ultrasound follow-up from birth until spontaneous or surgical resolution. Results: The mean gestational age of prenatal diagnosis by ultrasound was 34.7 weeks. Fetal ultrasound showed an abdominal-pelvic cystic mass in all cases, 3 of which (42.8%) were already complicated by intracystic hemorrhage. The mean size of the cysts was 60.8 mm. A surgical procedure was performed in 4 patients (57%). Conclusion: Ultrasound monitoring of pregnancies allows prenatal diagnosis of most fetal ovarian cysts and planning for careful management in order to avoid complications and safeguard fertility potential.Downloads
