Mycoplasma pneumoniae is an important etiologic agent of acute childhood encephalitis. We report the case of an 8-month-old boy admitted with convulsive status epilepticus with fever. Basal ganglia lesions and widening of the Sylvian valleys were found on MRI. Polymerase chain reaction from cerebrospinal fluid was performed detecting Mycoplasma pneumoniae. The outcome was favorable under antibiotherapy.Downloads
