Clinical spectrum and outcome of H1N1 influenza virus in children in a pediatrics department

Aim: Describe a clinical spectrum and the outcome of children with pandemic H1N1/09 influenza virus. Results: Ninety children were included. The mean age was 12.5 months. The most frequent symptoms were fever (73.3%), dyspnea (37.8%) and digestive disorders (28.9%). The mean length of stay was 3.28 days. The outcome was complicated by a bacterial infection (30.7%) and two deaths. Conclusion: Mild form of H1N1 influenza virus is the most common; however severe forms can be observed especially in infants.Downloads
