Serous otitis media, a frequent pathology in children, is related to an acute or a chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction. The main symptoms are variable degrees of hearing loss and social or/and scholar difficulties. Even the evolution of the disease is, often, a spontaneous resolution within few months, some complications can occur such as otitis media surinfection, tympanic membrane perforation and cholesteatoma. The diagnosis requires an accurate examination of the tympanic membrane with audiometric explorations. The treatment includes corticosteroids and trans-tympanic tubes in case of resistance.Downloads
