Congenital heart defects: prevalence and circumstances of diagnosis in newborns

Background: CHD are the most common birth defects. Objective: to determine the prevalence of CHD diagnosed in newborns and the circumstances of their diagnosis. Results: 105 cases collected over 17,613 live births, prevalence 5.96‰. Prenatal diagnosis represented 37.1% of cases. Postnatal diagnosis was dominant (62.9%).
