Splenic sequestration is a severe complication in sickle cell disease. It is often triggered by a viral infection. This one can also lead to the production of cold agglutinin (CA) and aggravate the anemia. We report a case of CA in a 22 months old child with sickle cell disease suffering from a streptococcal pneumonia complicated with splenic sequestration. The direct coombs test and the antibody screening were positive. The transfusion was well tolerated by the patient.Downloads
