Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia: Respiratory outcomes and management

Introduction: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is the most common chronic respiratory disease in children born prematurely. Aims: Determine the severity factors of BPD and detail the therapeutic management. Materials and methods: Retrospective analytical descriptive study over a period of 11 years from January 2007 to December 2017, which concerned children followed for BPD in the pediatrics department of Farhat Hached University Hospital of Sousse. Results: 29 patients included. The mild form was dominant (62%). After a 31.7 month of follow-up, the evolution was fatal for 4 patients (13.7%). Conclusion: Children with BPD require specialized and prolonged follow-up due to the frequent respiratory sequelae of this pathology.Downloads
