Abstract

Purpose : We report the observation of a child with bilateral optic nerve glioma revealing Von Recklinghausen disease. Observation : We report the case of a 7-year-old boy consulted with bilateral visual loss. Visual acuity was 2/10 in both eyes. The examination of the iris showed nodules of Lish and fundus bilateral papillary pallor. The magnetic resonance imaging revealed a bilateral optic nerve glioma. The general exam noted light brown skin spots revealed Von Recklinghausen disease. Conclusion: The diagnosis and monitoring of the patient with Von Recklinghausen's disease is primarily based on clinical and secondarily on magnetic resonance imaging. Optic nerve glioma is a serious complication with functional prognosis.
