Background: The aim of our study was to compare the epidemiological profile and the outcome of newborns hospitalized for neonatal respiratory distress (RD) in 2008 compared to those in 2013. Methods: This was a comparative retrospective study. Results: We included 120 newborns in 2008 and 142 newborns in 2013. In 2013 the administration of antenatal steroids occurred less frequently, delivery by elective cesarean section was more common, and full term newborns were more represented. RDS was more frequent in 2013 than in 2008 in premature infants before 34GA. In 2013, lethality was less by RD. Conclusion: In 2013, epidemiological profile was changed probably by modifying obstetrical strategies.Downloads
