Abstract

Introduction: In the course of their careers, pediatric caregivers are faced with taking care of children with chronic diseases, which often leads to a state of mental suffering. The objective of our work was to analyze the different emotions of a child care provider in relation to a child with a chronic disease and the adapted strategies to manage them. Methods: We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional study from 03-03-2021 to 15-04-2021 at the pediatric immuno-hematology service at the Bone Marrow Transplant Centre, Pediatric Department at the Charles Nicolle Hospital, oncology service at the children's hospital of Tunis and paediatrics service at the Rabta's hospital. Results: Our study included 50 caregivers and 62% of them were nurses. The signs of burn-out were felt by 70% of caregivers. Among caregivers 70% reported that the emotions they felt during work had an impact on their daily lives. Conclusion: This study encourages the integration of learning to manage emotions during the training of caregivers as well as psychological support during their work.
