Non typhoidal salmonella meningitis in an infant complicated by brain abscess

Abstract

The isolation of Salmonella is rare but an alarming circumstance in infants because of the high risk of neurological complications and death. We report a case of a 1 month and 20 days old infant hospitalized for febrile gastroenteritis complicated by sepsis, Salmonella meningitis and micro cerebral abscesses. The infant recovered after prolonged double antibiotic therapy.
