Vitamin B12 is involved in hematopoiesis and neurological development. We report three cases of vitamin B12 deficiency in infants aged 9 months, 2 months and 10 months under exclusive breastfeeding, hospitalized for impaired general condition with psychomotor regression and hypotonia. Blood cell count showed pancytopenia with macrocytosis and megaloblastosis. Bone marrow aspiration showed megaloblastic dystrophy. Vitamin B12 was decreased. The mothers' B12 levels were low. Under substitutive treatment, improvement was spectacular.Downloads
