Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of Tunisian children affected by SARS-CoV2 during March-July 2020 epidemic

Introduction: SARS-CoV2 is responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. The main objective was to report the epidemiological and clinical profile of COVID-19 infections in Tunisian children. The secondary aim was to detect post-COVID-19 manifestations. Methods: Descriptive observational study including Tunisian children with COVID-19 registered at the ONMNE national register during March to July 2020. Results: 141 children collected, mean age 9.4 years ± 5, sex ratio 1.1. 44% were asymptomatic, 56% presented symptoms (mild to moderate). One hospitalization. Mean RT-PCR negativation time: 25 days ± 12.7. No post-COVID-19 manifestations. Conclusion: COVID-19 is predominantly a disease of adults; children present with fewer and slighter symptoms.Downloads
